The Summer Song

"Trees swayin' in the summer breeze
Showin' off their silver leaves
As we walked by

Soft kisses on a summer's day
Laughing all our cares away
Just you and I

Sweet sleepy warmth of summer nights
Gazing at the distant lights
In the starry sky"

Maybe I'm being a worry wort, but something is telling me to live up this summer and really enjoy these last few months of being a family of 3. Travelling, while still cumbersome, is made a little easier by not having to stop every hour or so, pull over and feed a baby. Honey Bear is at an age where we can find common ground and get pleasure and enjoyment from a certain activity, like hiking or visiting parks. Plus, with the right snacks, you can do almost anything!

Here's what we've been up to:

With fossils over 300 million years old.

When not touring our local treasures, we've been busy in the garden and hard at work at canning and preserving the summer harvest for sale and for our pantry. Next up is to process 27 pints of handpicked sour cherries. Can't wait!

In the meantime, check out this fantastic meal we made!

How's your summer shaping up?

  1. Summer has been crazy with our build but I'm trying to make every moment count too. Such a special time but it's hard to remind ourselves to stop/pause and enjoy it.

  2. Love that pic of Honey Bear at Joggins - we were just there on a field trip in June :) The kids had a blast looking for fossils!
Summer has been pretty good to us thus far - no successful trips, mind you, but lots of fun times at the beaches (Tidnish & Silver Lake), and when the rain actually stops, loads of bike rides. And a puppy. So far that's my favourite :)
